Here’s a soft vellum poinsettia Christmas card I wanted to share with you all today.
I created this card as a reminder post for The Flower Challenge #62. Our theme for this month is “Use Leaves”. That’s why, have created a full background for my card with a cover plate die that has leaves.
The Background
First of all I started by blending distressed oxide inks on a Bristol smooth panel. I used Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo and Villainous Potion inks. The fact is all of these are newer colors I had just purchased and I couldn’t wait to use them. After that I rubbed some Distressed Glaze over it which made the colors so vibrant.
Then I cut a panel of shimmery white card-stock using the Sugar Pea Designs Leaf Cover plate. This was perfect for my theme. I added the die cut piece on top of the ink blended piece with liquid glue.
The Focus
I have been making some Christmas cards lately. Waffle Flowers Poinsettia Die set released around July I believe was going to be perfect for my card. I cut a bunch of poinsettia petals with vellum and layered them. However, the bottom piece (which was supposed to be the leaves) was cut with white and inked with Salvaged Patina to match my project.
After that, I glued them on the panel towards the lower right side.
The Sentiment
For the sentiment I used CZ designs sentiment. Embossed it on a white piece of card stock with white embossing powder then inked with salvaged patina.
Embellished with matching enamel dot in the centers of the poinsettias. Mounted it on an A2 size card base. Finally, this completed my card. Hope you find it inspiring.

Oh! I love the new DOX colors! They look so yummy together on your card! The vellum poinsettias are gorgeous as well!
Thank you TaEYun for the lovely comment.❤️❤️
This is absolutely gorgeous, Jyoti. The colors blend well and are soft and pretty which is something for such bright inks and indicates your light hand. The vellum poinsettia add to the softness and the inked leaves are perfect for the challenge.
Thank you so much Bobby for the lovely comment. I appreciate you taking your time to visit and write a review ❤️
