It’s midway through June already and I am here sharing an inspiration as a reminder for The Flower Challenge #69. Our theme this month is “Yellow and Blue”
Hello everyone!
Hope you’re having a great summer so far. It’s been hot here in New York. And I am not a huge fan of hot weather. I hadn’t been feeling so great and I’ve had very busy few weeks. I even missed the inspiration post for this challenge on the 4th of the month.
But here I am with my idea of using “yellow and blue” on this card.
Focus
The main focus of my card today is this blue flower today. This is a digital stamp called Truly Inspire by Joy Clair Stamps. Instead of coloring this flower in reds or yellows, I decided to go with the theme and color the whole flower in shades of blue.
I used Copic colors in B01, B02, B04 and B06 and added a little highlights with white gel pen. You can hardly see the highlights in photos. But trust me they’re there.
Background
The other day I had ordered the Abstract Art stamp set from MFTstamps. This stamp set has several paint brush stroke like stamps. I stamped a few towards the bottom on a piece of Bristol smooth card-stock with Simon Says Stamp Hybrid Ink in Sunshine. This took care of the yellow from the theme.
I also added a sprinkle of gold embossing powder before the ink dried completely and then heat set it to melt the embossing powder. The point was to cover some parts of the brushstrokes with gold.
Sentiment
This stamp set is from Simon Says Stamp. I received it as my subscription for their card kit this month which has some fun birthday sentiments. It is called Happiest Wishes. I stamped “Happy Birthday to someone special “ on the bottom right of the panel with Ranger Archival ink in black.
I then matted the background panel with blue card-stock and added it using foam tape on my card-base. Propped up the blue flower and finally added some iridescent blue jewels in three groups to complete my card.
Hope you guys enjoyed going through my process of creating this fun inspiration for our Flower Challenge this month.
Hugs,
Thank you so much for the lovely comment Michelle. I appreciate you .
Jyoti, I was hoping I’d see you today! You were missed!
What a gorgeous bloom – so lovely in this blue! You’ve found a wonderful way to add interest, and that yellow, to your card!
