As the holiday season draws near, I’ve been diving into the enchanting Season of Wonder Collection by Stampendous from Spellbinders. This collection features elegant dies and sentiments perfect for creating meaningful and festive cards. Today, I’m excited to share three distinct cards I crafted, each with its own unique style and theme, yet all radiating the warmth and joy of Christmas.
Card 1: A Nativity Silhouette
Creating the Mini Slimline Card Base
For my first card, I opted for a mini slimline size, measuring 3.5 by 6.5 inches. This smaller format is perfect for showcasing a detailed focal image while still leaving room for a meaningful sentiment.
Die-Cutting the Nativity Scene
The main focal point of this card is the Christmas Morn Nativity Die from the Season of Wonder Collection. I die-cut the nativity scene from black cardstock to emphasize its silhouette nature, depicting the serene moment of Jesus’ birth.
Inking the Background Glow
To create the scene behind the silhouette, I ink-blended shades of blue and added a touch of yellow around the star and the baby Jesus to mimic the warm glow of the star on that holy night. The contrast between the dark silhouette and the softly glowing background really brings the scene to life.
Assembling the Card
For the background, I chose a pattern paper featuring a night sky with stars, trimmed to fit the slimline card front with a slight white border peeking around the edges. I positioned the nativity silhouette slightly towards the top of the card, allowing space for the sentiment.
Adding the Sentiment
To complete the card, I stamped and embossed the sentiment “Christmas Blessings To You And Your Family” in white on black cardstock. This sentiment, from the Christmas Blessings Sentiments, was then placed along the bottom of the card, tying the entire design together.
Card 2: Christmas Tree With Doves
Designing the Focal Tree
For my second card, I used the Peace Dove Die from the Season of Wonder Collection. Starting with a green cardstock, I die-cut an arched triangle shape to serve as my Christmas tree. To add texture and interest, I cut out several leaves from the same green cardstock and adhered them within the triangle, creating a tone-on-tone effect.
Highlighting the Details
To enhance the leaves and add a festive touch, I outlined each leaf with a gold gel pen, giving them a subtle shimmer. I then die-cut two doves from white cardstock and placed them within the triangle, symbolizing peace and harmony.
Creating the Embossed Background
For the background, I selected a light blue cardstock and embossed it with the Scattered Christmas Embossing Folder. This added a delicate, festive texture that complements the focal tree. I adhered the embossed background to the card base before centering the Christmas tree with doves on top.
Finishing with a Sentiment
The final step was adding the sentiment. I die-cut the word “Peace” and the phrase “to you and your family” included in the Peace Dove Die set. These were placed on the card, completing the serene and elegant design.
Card 3: Shimmering Peace Dove Shaker
Creating the Shaker Window
For my third card, I wanted to try a different approach with the Peace Dove Die by creating a shaker card. I began by using the green panel to cut out a triangle-shaped window, which I then embossed with the Scattered Christmas Embossing Folder. To form the shaker window, I adhered an acetate sheet behind the triangle opening.
Building the Shaker Background
For the background behind the shaker window, I took a light blue panel and embellished it with green leaves to maintain the holiday theme. I then filled the shaker area with a mix of sequins from my stash, adding a bit of sparkle and movement to the card.
Assembling the Shaker Card
With the shaker elements in place, I secured the green panel with foam tape over the background, creating a dimensional window filled with festive sequins. This interactive element adds a fun and engaging touch to the card.
Adding the Sentiment
To finish, I chose one of the sentiments from the Season of Wonder Sentiments set, stamped it on a strip of white cardstock in black ink, and adhered it across the shaker window. The sentiment grounds the design and brings everything together.
Final Thoughts
These three cards showcase the versatility of the Stampendous Season of Wonder Collection, allowing you to create everything from traditional nativity scenes to modern, interactive designs. Whether you prefer the simplicity of a silhouette,
the elegance of doves, or the fun of a shaker card, this collection has something to inspire every cardmaker this holiday season.
