Creating beautifully stitched cards has never been easier with the CROSS STITCH NESTED CARD FRONT & TAG DIE SET from Spellbinders’ November 2024 Stitching Die of the Month! This versatile die set offers endless possibilities for crafting cards, tags, and decor with a unique cross-stitch flair. In today’s post, I’ll share how I created a vibrant birthday card using this set, paired with bold patterned papers, coordinating threads, and a delightful floral arrangement.
Preparing the Base Panels
To start, I used the CROSS STITCH NESTED CARD FRONT & TAG DIE SET to cut out multiple panels. For the stitching layers, I chose patterned papers in teal, orange, and yellow floral designs. Then, I die-cut coordinating cardstock panels without stitching holes for each patterned layer, ensuring a polished and cohesive look. These base panels form the foundation of the card and set the tone for the color palette.
Cross-Stitching the Panels
The cross-stitching was a relaxing and enjoyable part of the process! I selected matching threads for each patterned paper: teal thread for the teal pattern, orange thread for the orange design, and a soft yellow thread for the floral pattern with a teal background. Using the pre-cut stitching holes, I created cross-stitch patterns across the panels, adding texture and dimension. Once complete, I adhered the stitched panels to their solid counterparts using glue for a seamless finish.

I die-cut flowers and leaves from white cardstock, then ink-blended them with light orange ink for the flowers and teal ink for the leaves. These soft, blended hues harmonized beautifully with the patterned papers. I arranged the florals into a small cluster, placing them in the bottom-left corner of the smallest stitched panel.
Adding the Sentiment
No card is complete without a sentiment! For this design, I used the SHINE BRIGHT SENTIMENT STRIPS & PRESS PLATE AND DIE SET to foil a stunning “It’s Your Birthday” sentiment. The sleek, foiled finish added a touch of elegance to the card. I adhered the sentiment beneath the floral arrangement, letting it shine without overpowering the intricate stitching and layered details.
