I’ve always loved the look of foiled cards, specially foiled holiday cards are my favorite. The Glimmer Hot Foil Club for Oct 22 from Spellbinders contain a beautiful Winter floral glimmer plate and holiday sentiments with their coordinating dies. This is my first time playing with the Glimmer Club from Spellbinders and I had so much fun.
Here are the three cards I created as I couldn’t stop with just one.
Merry Christmas Foiled Card
The first idea I had in my mind is to foil this image on a light blue card-stock. This is not Christmas color for sure but it makes me think of winter. I used Spellbinders Waterfall color essential card-stock and Aura foil to foil this image. I used Prismacolor pencil in blue shades to color this image a little bit. I think this image itself just foiled alone is so pretty.
Then I cut this image using the coordinating die. For the background I used Cosmic Sky color essential card-stock. I foiled one of the sentiment that says Merry Christmas directly towards the lower left of the panel. Adhered the background with liquid glue and the flower with foam tape behind it on an A2 size card-base. Finally I added some jewels from my stash to finish this card.
Here are some of the photos in different angles.
Foiled On Vellum Holiday Cheer Card
I’ve loved the look of foiling on vellum. I wanted to try how these glimmer plates foil on vellum. I took a half sheet of Spellbinders Vellum and foiled this image on one side using the Polished Brass Foil. It worked perfectly. There were just a few bits of over-foiling around the edges but that was easily removed with an eraser.
I then carefully cut just half of the image with the die using the partial die-cutting method. Using a ruler and a craft knife I cut the rest of the portion of the image in a line. Then I took another piece of Cosmic sky card-stock and wrapped the vellum on the upper side foiling the edges and taping them at the back. This way I don’t have to glue the vellum as the glue would have been visible under the transparent vellum if I did so.
Then I foiled the sentiment Holiday Cheer on the Waterfall card-stock using the same foil. After die cutting it with the coordinating die I added it towards the bottom right of the panel. Then added it to a landscape style top folding A2 card-base. Embellished it with some jewels as well.
Here are some more photos.
Foiled Winter Wishes Card
For my last but not least card I foiled the image on Waterfall card-stock with Aura Foil. I then die cut it. I also foiled and die cut a sentiment that says Winter Wishes on a piece of the Waterfall card-stock. Then for the background I took a slightly smaller piece of Cosmic Sky card-stock and embossed it using the Embossing Folder of the month for Oct 22 which is called Scattered Christmas.
Then I simply added the flower in the middle of the panel and the sentiment on the flower. If I had done it any differently I would’ve created the sentiment in darker color as it is not so visible. Thats’ for next time.
Here are some other photos of this card.
Im sure there are tons of ways you can use the glimmer foil plates. I already have some ideas to use the glimmer foil plate like this next time I create a card.
Hope this was inspiring to you all. Happy crafting!!
