Handmade Christmas Ornaments with Spellbinders Felt Stitch and Create Collection

The holiday season is the perfect time to bring a touch of handmade charm to your Christmas tree, and I’ve done just that with three adorable felt ornaments using the Spellbinders Felt Stitch and Create Collection. Each ornament is unique, colorful, and stitched with care to add whimsy and warmth to your holiday decor. Let me take you through the process of creating each one, step by step!

Pumpkin Cottage Ornament

For my first ornament, I created the whimsical Pumpkin Cottage, a delightful house that brings autumnal charm to your Christmas tree. I used the Spellbinders Stitched Pumpkin Lane House Etched Die Set along with Merino wool felt sheets in orange and brown for the pumpkin, window, and door.

To make it sturdy, I backed all the felt pieces with cardstock before stitching them using brown thread. This added durability while keeping the charm of visible stitches. Once the pumpkin house was assembled, I decorated it with cute mushrooms and flowers, adhering them with a glue gun.

To hide the stitching on the back, I cut a second layer of felt and adhered it with hot glue, finishing it off with a loop of string on top for hanging. The result is a cozy little pumpkin house perfect for any tree.

Sweet Owl Ornament

The second ornament is the Sweet Owl, a playful addition to my Christmas collection. I used Felt Snowy Owl Etched Die and felt in shades of pink and purple for the owl’s body and orange for its beak and feet, I brought this adorable bird to life.

After stitching all the pieces, I used a glue gun to assemble the owl. For an extra touch of charm, I added a small felt flower to the top of its head. Like the pumpkin house, I added a loop of string for hanging and a felt backing to hide the stitching. This little owl brings a touch of whimsy and color to any Christmas display.

Furry Fox Ornament

Last but not least is the Furry Fox, a sweet woodland friend for your tree. I used Felt Forest Fox Etched Die and the same orange felt as the pumpkin cottage and paired it with cream felt for accents.

Following the same process as the other ornaments, I stitched the pieces, assembled them with a glue gun, and added a loop of string for hanging. A felt backing was adhered to hide the stitches, ensuring a neat and polished look. This little fox is both charming and versatile, adding a playful woodland touch to the tree.

Why I Love These Dies

Each of these dies is cleverly designed, offering endless creative possibilities. You can create stuffed felt animals with fiberfill to make small toys or use cardstock instead of felt to create fun embellishments for cards and crafts.

I found that Merino wool felt cuts beautifully with these dies, making the process easy and enjoyable. When I experimented with other types of felt, the results were less consistent, so I highly recommend Merino wool for projects like this.

Bring Handmade Magic to Your Tree

These ornaments were a joy to create and are now ready to adorn my Christmas tree. Whether you’re crafting for your own tree or creating gifts for loved ones, the Spellbinders Felt Stitch and Create Collection is perfect for bringing handmade magic to the holiday season.
