Hello everyone!
Thank you for visiting my blog.
I hope you’re all staying home and healthy in the middle of this COVID 19 crisis.
I along with some of my kind cardmaker friends on Instagram are sharing kindness through cardmaking as an IG/Blog hop. As we all share the common love for flowers our theme is Floral.
Each of us has special prizes for two lucky winners. Just visit my Instagram post to see more details.
Theme
The theme for this IG hop is a floral focus card with ink blending and the use of stencil is optional.
Here’s my card:
Background
For the background of this card, I used distressed oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, and Barndoor and Taylored Expressions Blending brushes for the smooth blend.
Then I used Tim Holtz’s stencil to apply Texture paste to create the swirly texture on the panel.
The Focal Point
The focus of this card had to be a floral image. I used one of the digital images from Power Poppy. I printed the image and started coloring it in Copics. Some of the details were added later with Prismacolor pencils.
I picked this azalea flower because it brings so many memories of my dad who passed away 17 years ago. Azalea was his favorite flower. As this is my first IG/ blog hop ever and I wanted to pay tribute to my father with this card.
The oval frame is cut using Spellbinders Die. I cut 4 frames and adhered them on top of each other to create a chipboard look.
The floral image and the sentiment are then adhered using foam tapes at the back for dimension. Then the whole panel is matted with a little bit bigger panel of black cardstock.
I really loved how this card turned out. I hope this gave you some inspiration
