Sending Hugs with Simple Florals

Creating heartfelt cards is a wonderful way to connect with loved ones, and today I’m excited to share a vibrant and cheerful design featuring Poppystamps’ Simple Floral Bundle Craft Die. This card brings together soft florals, delicate ink blending, and a playful plaid background, all tied together with a dimensional sentiment. Let’s dive into the process!

Creating the Floral Elements

To start, I focused on creating the floral elements using the Simple Floral Bundle Craft Die. I die-cut the flowers, stems, and leaves from white cardstock, creating a clean base for coloring. Using Distress Oxide Inks, I blended pink, blue, and yellow onto the flowers, and green and yellow onto the leaves and stem. The inks’ smooth blending capabilities gave the die cuts a soft, velvety texture that brought them to life. Once the pieces were colored, I set them aside to dry while preparing the card base.

Designing the Background

For the background, I chose a pretty pink plaid pattern from the Gladiola Plaid 6×6 Paper Pack by Memory Box. The subtle plaid adds a warm, cozy feel to the card without overpowering the design. I adhered the patterned paper to the card front, making it the perfect foundation for the floral arrangement. To add dimension, I cut a smaller panel of white cardstock to layer over the plaid, which creates a clean and crisp focal point for the flowers.

Assembling the Floral Arrangement

Once the background was ready, I arranged and adhered the floral die cuts. I began by gluing the stems and leaves flat against the white panel using liquid glue, allowing the vibrant flowers to take center stage. The flowers were attached with foam tape, giving them a delightful pop of dimension. The layered effect created depth and texture, making the arrangement truly stand out against the simple white backdrop.

Adding the Sentiment

For the sentiment, I used the Hugs Moonlight Script Die, cutting the word from white cardstock and its shadow layer from black cardstock. The sharp contrast between the two made the sentiment bold and eye-catching. I placed the completed “hugs” sentiment along the lower-right corner of the card, grounding the design and adding the perfect finishing touch.

This card is a wonderful example of how simple techniques like ink blending, layering, and dimension can create a polished and heartfelt design. The combination of vibrant florals, a clean layout, and a warm sentiment makes it perfect for sending a little extra love to someone special. Thank you for joining me today, and I hope this inspires you to create your own floral masterpiece!

Hugs,

Jyoti
