Sunshine Daisies Against Black Background

Today I am sharing this blank card I made using the Sunshine Daisies digital stamp released today by Rachel Vass Designs. These are white Sunshine Daisies against black background. This stamp set is available to purchase at her Etsy store.

I wanted these daisies to be white but even white flowers have shadows and highlights and some shades of purples and yellows in them.

I sat down with some Prismacolor pencils and some Polychromos to color these beautiful flowers. I used warm grey for the shadow and some light yellow, purple, and green on the highlighted areas of the petals.

For the centers of the flowers I picked some yellows, oranges, and browns. I added some texture using the little strokes of Prismacolor pencils in the darker shade all over these center.

After I finished coloring with the pencil colors, I decided to go for really dark background. Started tracing the outlines with Micron Pen and also filling the small areas between the petals with the same pen. The rest of the background I colored with black Copic marker.

I cut the colored panel with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die and attached it to a white card-base made with Neenah Solar White Card-stock.

I hope this will inspire you to create projects like this with dark background.
